What do other first year girls lacrosse families have to say about their daughters’ experience in the Walnut Warriors program?
Families of U9 = 6, 7 & 8 year olds
“Our daughter Katie is 8 years old and it was her first year playing Warriors Lacrosse. We couldn't be more impressed with the coaching and the program. In learning a sport we knew little about, we found the program to be well run which builds a sense of community among the players and families. The coaches’ attention to detail, understanding of the game and patience with the girls lead to an enriching experience for our daughter that helped build her self-esteem. You will be amazed by the skill development and progress the kids make from week to week. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.”

“Our daughter is 8 years old, and switching from another fall/spring sport to Lacrosse was a big decision for her. Before the first practice, she was nervous about a few things; how would she learn the game and be able to play and would she make any new friends on the team? These concerns shifted very early on to excitement for learning a new sport. The practices and games were run very well - the coaches focused on team work, good sportsmanship and learning the basics. She made friends right away (just as kids always do) and as far as the game, she had two wonderful coaches that made learning the basics fun and easy. The season was a great success for our daughter; she had fun, made new friends, and she learned a new sport that she wants to continue to play in the future.”

“My daughter, Laura, has not played a "ball sport" since she played one season of soccer in preschool. She has cheered, tumbled, swam, and ran track, but never a sport that required much catching, throwing, teamwork, and hand-eye coordination. I was therefore quite unsure of how she would feel about lacrosse. Well, after just one season, I have never seen her so excited and enthusiastic about a sport! She looks forward to practice days and games, and wishes they were longer. She reads every lacrosse magazine she gets and watches games on TV. She has bonded with the girls on her team. She LOVES it and would like to play all year. Thanks to her awesome coaches, Laura has made leaps and bounds. She has tried every position, and is willing to play them all as needed. She even plays goalie. That has done wonders for her coordination! Warriors Lacrosse is a great program. Laura (as well as my son, Michael) will be back again next year for sure!”
“As the father of a 10 year old daughter who has played several different sports in the past, the idea of trying a new one (lacrosse) was met with both excitement and curiosity. She had never picked up a lacrosse stick before, had no idea how to play the game, and didn't know if she would fit in. Six months later, lacrosse has become her favorite sport and she has fallen in love with playing it. To any parent out there who is on the fence about having their child play, I can honestly say that it is, without a doubt, one of the best decisions we have ever made.”
“We can't say enough about our phenomenal experience with the, Warrior Lacrosse program in Walnut Creek! We live in Clayton and our daughter wanted to try something different! She plays basketball and soccer and we had heard that Lacrosse was a natural fit for someone with that skill set, as it turned out, it was a perfect match! As a first year player, she has excelled under the direction of these experienced coaches! We are excited to be part of the fastest growing sport for girls in our area! Thank you, Walnut Creek, Lacrosse!”

“I was excited when my daughter wanted to play Lacrosse for the first time this year. I have coached soccer and basketball and did not know a thing about Lacrosse. I decided what better way to learn than to dive in and be an assistant coach. This has been one of my most rewarding experiences as Lacrosse combines various skills and strategy of soccer and basketball and working as a team. It is an easy sport to understand and if you have coached any youth sports, you too can be a Lacrosse coach. My daughter and I can’t wait until next year!”
“Our daughter was looking for an alternative to baseball in the spring. We had heard lacrosse is a good sport for young girls to get into. The Warrior program has been great because she has learned so much about lacrosse so quickly, all while making new friends and having fun. The coaches work hard to help the girls develop skills that can benefit them in lacrosse and other sports too. We would recommend Warrior lacrosse to any girls interested in trying something new and exciting. Thanks for everything!”

“I am so thankful a friend recommended our daughter try out Warrior Lacrosse this year. As California natives -- and a long-time "swimming family" -- we knew relatively nothing about lacrosse. It's been a joy to see the girls on our team learn and progress over the season, all under the encouraging, ever-positive, capable direction of coach Brad. I especially appreciated all of our "chalk talks" during which everyone (players and their families) were taught the basics of the game. Even the game refs make a point to always explain the reasoning behind each blow of the whistle. It's such an inclusive, helpful approach. To those considering giving it a try -- do it! What a terrific program! We'll be back next year!”

“This is Natalie's first year doing LAX. We have been asked to join for the last few years by a member and a classmate of hers. She has enjoyed soccer, cross country, and track. Natalie also participates in volleyball, basketball at CTK. I've asked her about her favorites and she has narrowed it down to soccer and LAX. We are new to the sport and love it. Part of that is the GREAT coaches she has with Avi and Matthew. It has been nice for her to begin her experience with her friends who are also new to LAX. We love the involvement, ethics and sportsmanship of LAX. We could not have asked for a better coaching/volunteer staff than we have had this, our first year. We will be back next year. Thanks to the WC Warriors and we will pass the word along.”

“I wanted to take this opportunity to express my thoughts about my daughter's, and my husband and I's, first year with the league.
We are so impressed with the communication. From the beginning, when we asked to have our daughter traded to the alternate U11 team, the communication was courteous and timely. The updates on events and the details about successes were so balanced...not overwhelming which is nice.
We were so impressed and equally surprised that this was Coach Gina's first year of coaching. She had an easy, motivating way with the girls and an immense knowledge of the game. She was caring and patient while keeping the girls focused and LEARNING! The growth of knowledge on the team was really impressive. Thank you so much for maintaining a great league. We are so appreciative!”
